PRINTING HELP

Get a better result from your A4 labels

Printer behaviour varies, so a small adjustment can make a big difference. These are the checks we recommend most often.

01

Print at actual size

Choose 100% or Actual size. Avoid “Fit”, “Shrink” or percentage scaling, as these alter the position and size of the print.

02

Check your margins

In Word, use File → Print → Page Setup → Margins. Adjust the left or top margin slightly if the print needs moving across or down the sheet.

03

Use the bypass tray

If available, try the manual or bypass feed. It usually gives thicker label stock a straighter paper path and can improve feeding accuracy.

04

Laser printer label mode

Select the printer's Labels, Thick 2 or Thick 3 media setting where appropriate. This slows the feed and helps toner bond correctly.

05

Inkjet drying

If ink is slow to dry, reduce print quality/DPI to lay down less ink and allow extra drying time before handling or stacking the sheets.

06

Allow for printer tolerance

Desktop laser and inkjet printers can vary by around ±1mm. Keep important text and artwork comfortably inside the label edge.

Using Microsoft Word?

Go to Mailings → Labels → Options. If you know the equivalent Avery code you can select that layout there. Avery references are provided only as a compatibility guide.

Quick check: print onto plain paper first, then hold it behind your label sheet to check alignment before using a label sheet.
