Direct thermal materials have a chemical layer applied to a paper or synthetic base that is activated by heat. When the label is printed through a direct thermal printer the small elements on the printer heat up and activate parts of the chemical layer to create the image required.

Will I need a Ribbon to print onto these Labels?
No, a direct thermal printer prints by applying heat to the material. It does not use any ribbon, ink or toner, but it requires a special type of heat-sensitive material that blackens when heat is applied. Because the label material is heat sensitive, it fades and the label can become hard to read and scan over time.
Can we apply the labels by hand or machine?
If you wish to apply the labels by hand that's absolutely fine, if they are to be machine applied just let us know the maximum overall diameter of the roll, core size and edge leading.
Will my Direct Thermal Labels fade?
Sunlight is a significant contributor to label fading. Whenever possible, store labelled items away from direct sunlight. Implementing this precautionary measure can significantly extend the life of thermal labels, preserving their vibrancy and preventing premature deterioration.
